From The Trenches: Office 2007 Deployment Lessons 8/25/2009 9:00 a.m.

Now that more firms have been through the upgrade process, what elements of their upgrades went as smooth as silk? What elements made them wish fervently for "do-overs?" Our panel of member speakers will share their experiences, the good, the bad and the ugly. Their insights can help inform and improve your firm's upgrade process.

Template / Macro Package Shoot-Out 8/25/2009 11:00 a.m.

Should you go with a simple macro package or a full template suite? Can you use it "out of the box" or will customization be necessary? How well will it play with your comparison, metadata scrubbing and other third-party tools? Another terrific shoot-out is here to help answer these questions and more! Speakers will be your fellow ILTA members, each representing a different product in use at their firm including Payne, Softwise Innova, iCreate and Legal MacPac. Their responses to a broad set of questions will be reviewed (and compiled into an oh-so-helpful comparison chart - your take-away!). Our panel members give specific examples of the best features and trickiest challenges of their respective systems as experienced in real-world environments. This side-by-side comparison will give you a solid grounding in the options available and spark ideas to help you be "smart consumers" of this very important tool in the legal support environment.

Training on the Cheap 8/25/2009 1:30 p.m.

When times are lean, training budgets get tight. What creative opportunities exist without new (or any) money in that budget? We look at tools you may already have and freeware that's gained traction, and present a wide range of innovative ideas for maintaining and even extending the learning culture of your firm.

Engaging Your Audience: Creating Persuasive Training and Presentations 8/25/2009 3:30 p.m.

With budgets tight and resources stretched thin, it's harder than ever to get people to training and to keep their attention when you do, so it is vital that you are able to engage the interests of your audience and convince them of the value of what you have say. Whether you're conducting hands-on training with a small group, creating e-learning materials or delivering a presentation to a packed ballroom, it's not enough to simply provide information. You also need to win them over to see that your ideas or the tools you're teaching will benefit them. We discuss methods for creating more effective presentations by targeting your message to your audience, including interactive elements to maintain their attention and engaging their emotions to win them over to your point of view.
